Jumpstart financial assistance

If you require financial assistance to get your child(ren) into skating, Jumpstart is committed to helping all families access a range of activities by helping with registration and equipment costs. Click here to apply. (NOTE: Funding from a community agency such as Jumpstart, is independent of BDSC; we are not involved in the application or funding process. Please inform us at registration if you have been approved and will receive funding).

BDSC Programs

Canskate and Hockey Edges & Development

Canskate is Skate Canada's flagship learn-to-skate program for beginners of any age. This one-of-a-kind program teaches fundamental movements and basic skills.

Junior/Intermediate

(Star 4+)

As a Junior/Intermediate skater, you are now part of the Starskate program. Skaters will work with a private coach who will assess their needs and direct their progress. A minimum of two (2) days/week is required and a private coach must be retained.

Junior Stars (Star 1-3)

This program transitions Canskaters who have achieved level 5 or 6 results into the Starskate program. This program offers group lessons with the option of retaining private or semi-private coaching.

Senior

The Senior program is for Starskaters that are ready to move on from the Junior/Intermediate program. These skaters will have completed their Star 1-5 freeskate tests and will be working on their Junior Silver Dances and Senior Bronze Skills. At this level, there are no group lessons offered through BDSC. Training is individualized and/or in semi-private/group lessons organized directly through the coaches.
